Providing Economic Development Assistance
SRDC’s nine-county region is federally designated by the United States Economic Development Administration as an Economic Development District. We collaborate with regional partners to identify projects that will support economic development within the region and that will accomplish the goals outlined in the region’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
We provide economic development assistance to businesses, local units of government, and communities within our region. These services can be as simple as connecting a potential new business with our small business development partners or as complex as collaborating on projects to tackle housing shortages, childcare gaps, and other challenges our communities are facing.
SRDC is available to help your community or business make plans for future development.
Sometimes an event occurs that a community is unprepared for, such as an unexpected business or facility closure. SRDC is here to help ease the transition and make plans that are responsive to the needs of the community when these events occur.
SRDC works closely with our partners at the federal Economic Development Administration, the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Program, and other federal agencies to provide assistance to communities to increase business development opportunities.
We also work closely with the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, the Minnesota Department of Commerce, and other state agencies, to assure that your community can be responsive to the needs of your businesses and your community.
