SRDC Executive Director Trusty and Deputy Director Weis recently attended the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) annual training conference in New Orleans! Representing a network of over 500 regional development organizations (RDOs) nationwide, NADO supports organizations like SRDC in providing vital services to communities across the country. RDOs play a key role in assisting cities and counties with a wide range of needs, from economic and community development to transportation planning, public infrastructure, affordable housing, disaster prevention, rural capacity-building, and more. Together, these organizations strengthen the foundation of communities, fostering growth, resilience, and regional collaboration.
SRDC's Transportation Planner, Webb, recently attended the National Safe Routes to School Conference in Ft. Collins, CO! This inspiring 3-day event gathered transportation planners, Safe Routes to School coordinators, engineers, and other advocates from around the nation to explore new ways to support and expand Safe Routes to School initiatives in our communities. One of the highlights? Webb joined a mobile workshop bike tour through Ft. Collins and the Colorado State University campus, experiencing firsthand the impact of safe, accessible routes. 🏞️
Funding Opportunity for Solar on Public Buildings The Minnesota Department of Commerce invites local governments and federally recognized tribes to apply for the Solar on Public Buildings Grant Program! This program offers grants to help fund solar energy systems on public buildings, covering up to 70% of project costs, depending on financial need. Eligible projects can install solar systems up to 40kW or 120% of the building’s annual energy use. Important Dates: 1️⃣ Readiness Assessment – due Monday, December 2, 2024 2️⃣ Full Grant Application – opens upon notification, due Monday, May 5, 2025 Interested?
