RLF Business Spotlight
AmericInn | Windom, MN
The vision for bringing a new, modern hotel to the City of Windom was first initiated by a group of local community members. With this vision, Windstream LLC was formed, which brought together several financial partners to turn the vision into reality. In collaboration with funding from the SRDC Revolving Loan Fund, Windom EDA, and Falcon Development Corporation to help fill the financial gap, the AmericInn Hotel was built along the north side of Highway 60 in Windom.
The doors of the AmericInn were opened in August 2018 under the direction of General Manager Kathryn Wood. Wood came to AmericInn and with both retail and hospitality experience and brought to the table professionalism, strong interpersonal skills, and a new face to the Windom community.
In 2020, while many businesses across the country were experiencing massive losses due to the pandemic, AmericInn pivoted to focus on being available for essential workers. Windom is fortunate to have successful health care and manufacturing businesses, particularly food manufacturing, that brings business professionals to the Windom area during the work week. AmericInn is now starting to see increased travel for pleasure and an uptick in wedding party bookings.
Much of the furniture, fixtures and equipment that can be seen throughout the hotel would not be possible without the financial support of the SRDC and other gap lenders. Thanks to the leadership and support of the community, businesses like AmericInn can continue to grow and thrive in Southwest Minnesota.
